Sowing Seeds of Hope, Support, and Transformation in Every Community We Serve.

Homelessness & Food Insecurity

Homelessness and food insecurity are rising at an alarming rate across the United States, and Austin is no exception. Every day, members of our community face the unimaginable: life without stable housing, reliable meals, or the basic necessities needed to live with dignity.

At the Sow Family Foundation, we confront this crisis through trusted, compassionate, and community-driven solutions. Through homelessness prevention, diversion, housing navigation, and support services provided through the SOW Community Resource Hub, we help individuals and families avoid homelessness or safely transition from the streets into stable living environments.

Through our Feeding Hearts program, we also address the immediate needs that accompany housing instability. Each year, we provide thousands of freshly prepared hot meals, survival supplies, and essential resources while our outreach teams offer personalized support that helps people regain stability and rebuild their lives.

From youth to adults, our work is transforming lives, one family supported, one meal served, and one safe home at a time.

Join us in building a more just, stable, and hopeful Austin. Together, we can prevent homelessness, fight food insecurity, and restore dignity for our neighbors in need.

Education & Youth Empowerment

At the Sow Family Foundation, we are dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty and reducing homelessness by investing in the futures of children, families, and single mothers in our community.

We believe that education is a pathway to stability. Through our youth programs, we equip disadvantaged young people with the tools, resources, and encouragement they need to succeed in school and in life. Through our Backpacks of Hope program, we provide backpacks and essential school supplies to students and families in need, ensuring children begin the school year prepared, confident, and ready to learn.

For single mothers, we offer scholarships and access to childcare, helping them return to school, pursue meaningful careers, and build stronger foundations for their families.

But we do not stop at temporary relief. The Sow Family Foundation is a trusted, community-rooted organization focused on lasting change. Every initiative we lead is designed to advance housing stability, strengthen families, and build a more hopeful and equitable Austin, one life at a time.

Refugee & Family Support

At the Sow Family Foundation, we believe that every individual, regardless of where they come from, deserves the opportunity to rebuild their life with dignity. That is why we support refugee families as they transition into new communities, offering not only emergency relief but also pathways toward long-term stability and housing security.

We assist with relocation and resettlement by providing shelter support, nutritious food, and essential supplies, including baby products, hygiene kits, and everyday necessities. Through our outreach and the SOW Community Resource Hub, we also connect families with local services, language assistance, and case management that help them successfully integrate into the Austin community.

Our goal is not only to respond to crisis but to prevent homelessness before it begins. By addressing both immediate needs and long-term stability, we help refugee families build safe, empowered, and self-sufficient futures here in Austin.

Mental Health & Breast Cancer

At the Sow Family Foundation, we are committed to standing beside individuals and families facing challenges related to mental health and breast cancer. Our programs focus on healing, dignity, and resilience so that no one has to face these struggles alone.

Non-Clinical Mental Health Support

Through our Healing Circles, we provide culturally responsive, community-based spaces where individuals can find support, share experiences, and strengthen emotional well-being. These peer-led circles help reduce isolation, promote resilience, and restore hope, especially for underserved families, refugees, and unhoused individuals who often face barriers to traditional care.

Breast Cancer Awareness & Support

We also promote breast cancer awareness, education, and access to early detection. Through compassionate outreach, workshops, and partnerships with trusted healthcare providers, we help ensure that individuals and families have the knowledge, resources, and support they need to navigate their breast cancer journey with strength and dignity.

Our mission is to ensure that no one faces mental health challenges or breast cancer alone. Every person deserves healing, resilience, and the opportunity to thrive.

The Sow Family Foundation is a trusted, community-rooted nonprofit and one-stop community organization dedicated to advancing housing stability, reducing poverty, expanding non-clinical mental health support, improving access to education, and addressing food insecurity among Central Texas’ most vulnerable populations. Our work focuses on supporting unhoused individuals, under-resourced youth, refugee families, and low-income households through holistic, dignity-centered services that promote stability, healing, and opportunity.

We provide:

• Homelessness prevention and diversion services that help individuals and families avoid homelessness or transition into stable housing through housing navigation, case management, and support services offered through The SOW Community Resource Hub

• Non-clinical mental health support through our Healing Circles, creating safe, culturally responsive spaces that promote emotional resilience, reduce isolation, and strengthen community wellbeing

• Hunger relief through our Feeding Hearts program, providing thousands of freshly prepared meals and essential supplies to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity

• Education and youth empowerment programs, including our Backpacks of Hope initiative, which equips students with essential school supplies and resources to help break cycles of poverty and create pathways to opportunity

Through compassion, lived experience, and strong local partnerships, we deliver comprehensive, community-based solutions that empower individuals to move from crisis to long-term stability and hope.
